Dr. John Fisher is a Desert Storm Veteran who left the military in 1992. He Obtained his BA in History and Government from Angelo State University in 2001 and went to work in the private prison industry. In 2003 Dr. Fisher left the prison and started working for Adult Probation conducting offender threat assessments. After completing a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2006, Dr. Fisher entered academia and has been teaching criminological theory and criminal profiling. He achieved his Ph.D. in Human Services in 2016 and has continued his academic career teaching criminal justice. Dr. Fisher has developed a Master’s Degree program in Criminal Justice Administration at the University of Texas Permian Basin, that has been recognized as one of the best online programs in the country by STEPS – Student Training & Education in Public Service. Dr. Fisher’s current research interests include extremism, polarization and hate in America. He is also exploring how the cost of oil influences criminality and gun crime in West Texas. Dr. Fisher has been married to his wife Sonia for 38 years, has four children, and 9 grandchildren.
