ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The author of this book is a Professor of Civil Engineering at San Diego State University. He received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He is a registered Structural Engineer in the State of California. He has an extensive experience in teaching, research and structural design. His teaching experience encompasses about 30 years as a Civil and Structural Engineering Professor with four textbooks in concrete and masonry including this book. His research experience includes about 50 refereed journal papers, three patents and well as numerous other activities. His design experience extends over twenty years with masonry retaining walls and masonry buildings as well as buildings of other structural materials such as wood, concrete and steel.
The author of this book believes that the environmental effect of humans has been overwhelming to our planet. Masonry is a low energy building material that can be used wisely for all types of construction to reduce human impact on Earth. This book is a step in the right direction.
