The bookstore orders seats and assigns them by email
The campus bookstore orders student seats for an ActiveBook title on ActiveConnect and assigns each seat to a student's university email. ActiveConnect sets up the student's ActiveBook account with the book in it — existing accounts are reused, never duplicated.

The university's LMS launches the book
Students click the book link in their D2L, Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard course. The LTI 1.3 launch is verified and matched to the seat assigned to that student's email. Unassigned seats in the bookstore's stock are auto-assigned on first launch.

The student reads in ActiveBook
"Your ActiveBook is ready" — read on the web or in the ActiveBook mobile app, with simulators, calculators, animations, and quizzes embedded in the pages. No registration forms, no codes.
What we receive, and what we don't
LTI launches are signed JWTs verified against the LMS keyset, with expiry enforcement and single-use nonces. HTTPS everywhere, on managed US hosting. We receive only the student's name and email — no grades, no rosters, no health data, no government IDs. Card payments run through Stripe-hosted checkout, so card data never touches our servers.
